Bancroft Construction and Kent County Celebrate Ribbon Cutting of New EMS Building in Frederica, Delaware
December 17, 2025 4:46 pmKent County officials, community partners, and First Responders gathered in Frederica to celebrate the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Emergency Medical Services (EMS) building, constructed by Bancroft Construction. The ceremony marked the completion of a vital public safety project designed to strengthen emergency response capabilities and better serve the growing needs of residents throughout Frederica and surrounding communities.
The new EMS facility is part of a strategic county initiative to modernize emergency infrastructure and support 24/7 paramedic staffing, significantly improving response times across the region. This project was funded through federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars, State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds reflecting Kent County’s continued commitment to public health and safety.
Just nine months ago, Kent County celebrated the groundbreaking of both the Harrington and Frederica stations. Identical in design, each 3,700-square-foot station includes vehicle bays for multiple EMS units, crew quarters for 24-hour accommodations, bunk rooms, meal areas, office and workspaces, and rest areas. The Frederica station also features a dedicated warehouse space to house EMS command vehicles and provide additional storage for equipment, including the mobile FieldCom Unit.
Previously, Kent County EMS operated out of local firehouses in Harrington and Frederica. With the completion of the Frederica facility, EMS crews now have dedicated stations designed specifically to meet their operational and logistical needs.
Bancroft Construction served as the general contractor, delivering a state-of-the-art facility with functional design elements tailored to first responders and the demands of modern emergency medical services.
“We’re thrilled to cut the ribbon on this important facility,” said Robert Scott, Levy Court Vice President. “By building these facilities, we are laying the foundation for a safer, stronger Kent County. One that can adapt and lead in the face of change.”
John Tinger, Director of Public Safety, emphasized the broader meaning of the project, stating, “What this building represents is our commitment to being ready to be prepared to respond to the public’s emergencies, whether it is here in Frederica or anywhere else in Kent County.” He also commented on the county’s relationship with Bancroft Construction, adding, “Bancroft has been more than just a construction company for us. They have been a true partner. They listen to our operational needs, work through the challenges, and treat this project like it was their own.”
“Bancroft Construction is proud to have partnered with Kent County on this project,” said Rob Jadick, Regional Vice President of Bancroft Construction. “I refer to this type of project as a difference-making project – a project we are most proud to build.”
In closing remarks, County Administrator Kevin Sipple noted, “What we celebrate here is not simply the opening of new facilities, not are they isolated investments. Together, they represent a coordinated approach that ensure Kent County is prepared, responsive, and forward-looking. Most importantly, these facilities stand as a promise to our citizens… a promise that Kent County will continue to adapt, invest, and lead to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.”
The new EMS building is now fully operational and will serve as a critical hub for emergency medical response in Kent County. Bancroft Construction remains committed to delivering high-quality public service facilities that contribute to community health and safety.
