Longwood Meadow Garden Expansion

Spanning 86 acres, the Longwood Meadow Garden Expansion project added plantings, trails, bridges, and engaging interpretation to the three-mile site.

“Bancroft was always quick to respond to changes in scope and changes in scheduled tasks and activities when adverse weather conditions threatened to impact the scheduled end date. The level of workmanship was of high quality and the Bancroft team was the consummate team player, spearheading our collaborative approach.”

As Longwood’s newest garden in over 60 years, the Managed Meadow Expansion project is truly unique and remarkable. The project entailed expanding Longwood’s meadow from 40 to 86 acres and adding colorful native wildflower plantings, trails and engaging interpretation. Some of the project highlights include installing over three miles of walking and hiking trails, which lead visitors to the diverse habitats found throughout the garden’s terrain, the installation of three brand-new pedestrian/learning bridges, the construction of pedestrian shelters and garden overlooks, and renovation to the historically significant Webb Farmhouse.
