December 18, 2025 8:07 pmIn 2025, Bancroft Construction reached a milestone that few companies achieve: 50 years in business. Founded in 1975 by Stephen M. Mockbee as a small construction company, Bancroft has grown into an award-winning construction management firm serving clients across Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland. This anniversary year was not only a time to reflect on our legacy, but also an opportunity to celebrate our people, strengthen trusted partnerships, and deepen our investment in the communities we proudly serve.

A few notable project highlights from 2025 include Longwood Gardens’ Longwood Reimagined project, which was recently awarded Project of the Year by ABC of Eastern Pennsylvania. At $250 million, Longwood Reimagined is our largest cultural project to date.
Our Special Projects Division also recently completed new office and warehousing space for the growing Tiger BioSciences in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
Another major milestone was the Wexford Apartments project for Viking Residential, where our Multifamily team successfully delivered this 304-unit apartment community in Lumberton, New Jersey, expanding housing opportunities for the Lumberton Township community.
In Newark, Delaware, we are nearing completion of the highly anticipated Pediatric Skilled Nursing Facility addition, which will provide exceptional care for children and their families.

With 112 players in attendance and sponsorships sold out, the generosity of our participants and partners raising an impressive $50,000 in support of Exceptional Care for Children (ECC).
Honoring Our Team: Employee Appreciation & 50th Anniversary Gala
In addition to community outreach, 2025 was a year to celebrate the people who make Bancroft what it is. Our Employee Appreciation and 50th Anniversary Gala brought team members together for an evening of great food, music, and reflection.
The celebration honored Bancroft’s history, recognized the dedication of our employees, and highlighted the relationships that have carried us through five decades of growth. It served as a reminder that our success is built on the people, past and present, who care deeply about their work and about one another.
Looking Ahead: A Leadership Transition Rooted in Legacy
As part of this milestone year, Bancroft also announced an important leadership transition.
After 25 years with Bancroft, including 15 years as President & CEO, Greg Sawka is retiring at the end of 2025. Mike Petka, a long-time Bancroft executive, has been appointed as his successor, marking only the second leadership transition in Bancroft’s 50-year history.
Greg noted, “Throughout his 25-year tenure at Bancroft, Mike has made a transformative impact on our culture, processes, and leadership.”
“I’m honored to take on the role of President & CEO and to work with a talented team as we forge ahead into the next chapter of Bancroft Construction,” added Mike Petka.
