Designed by Wilmington based ABHA Architects, the new monastery for the Benedictine Sisters was constructed on the Holy Family Parish Site in Newark, DE. The nearly 15,000 SF facility features 14 fully accessible bedroom suites, offices, community/living spaces, prayer/worship space, storage, kitchen and dining room, and a courtyard. The centerpiece of the courtyard is a marble statue of their patroness, St. Gertrude, which was relocated from its previous home in Ridgely, MD. This location, which was completed in 2018, moves the sisters closer to medical care, while giving them access to more amenities that would better serve the needs of the community.
