Meridian on Main: A Milestone Delivered in the Heart of Newark

We’re excited to share that Meridian on Main, a signature mixed-use development located just minutes from the University of Delaware, has officially reached substantial completion. Situated along bustling Main Street in Newark, Delaware, this project showcases our team’s ability to deliver high-quality construction in a tight, high-traffic, urban environment.

The project involved the demolition of an existing two-story structure to make way for a new five-story, 60,000-square-foot building. The ground floor offers approximately 12,250 square feet of retail shell space, along with essential resident amenities including a leasing office, fitness center, mailroom, and mechanical and electrical support rooms. Floors two through five contain 31 thoughtfully designed apartment units, providing a total of 110 beds—meeting the growing demand for student-oriented housing near the university.

One of the most unique aspects of this build was the structural approach. With limited long-term fire marshal access around the site, the residential levels were constructed using cold-formed metal framing with Ecospan floor joists and decking. This not only ensured code compliance and structural integrity but also allowed for efficient delivery on a constrained site.

Bringing Meridian on Main to life required a coordinated effort across many disciplines, and we couldn’t be more proud of the project team: Steve Griffin (Project Executive) Kay Fitzgerald (Project Manager), Brandon Walker (APM), Jason Valvala (Superintendent), and Christina Logue (Project Coordinator).
