The Beekley
Building, which is the main structure on campus, received a brand
new anodized aluminum window system, replacing its wooden structure,
while maintaining the original architectural vision. The result
is a dramatic lobby entrance that can be integrated with the new
library area by the operation of a large custom designed sliding
glass door assembly.
This was
an ambitious renovation project undertaken to reinterpret existing
space, upgrade the facilities mechanical systems, and produce
classroom environments that reflect high levels of interior finish
with state-of-the-art technologies. A new Administration area,
with Admissions area and Headmaster offices, was created out of
former science classroom space. The science areas were moved to
a lower level, which originally housed garages and maintenance
storage. New classroom and research areas, combined with significantly
upgraded science and lab equipment, are now better integrated
into the Middle School section of the facility.
Functions
required by the maintenance and operations arm of the school are
now housed in a separate, expanded building, complete with new
office and storage space. A multi-phased project that encompassed
large and disparate areas of the school, all work was undertaken
with the goal of no interruption of the normal operation of the
facility.
