the historical integrity of the structure's exterior and interior.
Bancroft
restored the former Worth Estate in Greenville, Delaware according
to a precedent setting ordinance designed to protect historic properties
through adaptive reuse. The Intercollegiate Studies Institute heightened
the challenge by requiring exceptionally high technological capabilities
without disturbing the original footprint or the interior walls
and ceilings. Current building codes had to be met and the grounds
and existing orchards had to be preserved. In addition, a feasibility
study conducted after construction began showed that employee expansion
would be significant by the year 2015. Bancroft accommodated the
results of the study without sacrificing budget or schedule. The
project has been recognized by many organizations for its success
and has won the ABC and DCA Construction Excellence Awards.
