The Innovation Technology and Exploration Center (ITEC) Environmental Outpost Educational Center is located on the far corner of the 40-acre site in Smyrna, which will also serve as the home to DASEF museum, classrooms, dormitory space and more. This phase of the project provides indoor and outdoor educational space including a Meade LX200 telescope. Bancroft was hired in early 2003 to provide Construction Management services towards an overall program including sitework, the Outpost/Observatory and a 50,000 square foot Educational Building/Museum. The original Program was slowed by funding and archeological issues that were finally overcome when ground was broken on the site in April 2005. Attention is now being turned to the Educational Building, which is moving through the pre-construction/bidding phase.
