North Star Project Wins Top Honors

The State of Delaware and the Delaware Contractors Association recently named Bancroft’s North Star Elementary School the winner of the 2006 Construction Excellence Award.
The Construction Excellence Award applications were judged by four criteria: design and craftsmanship, excellence in project teamwork, innovation in construction techniques or materials and meeting the challenges of a difficult job.
The North Star Elementary School Project Team includes Senior Project Manager Greg Sawka, Project Engineer Craig Moore, Superintendent Dave Breakiron, and Project Coordinator Michele Heckler-Garcia.
In just 13 months, Bancroft successfully completed this 15-month job in order to support the start of the 2005-2006 school year, even after the Red Clay Consolidated School District’s decision to add a 2,500 square foot kindergarten addition halfway through the project.
Members of the Project Team
accepted the award on Wednesday, October 25, at the DCA annual meeting. The guest speaker,
former Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach, was Dick Vermeil.
“The Construction Excellence Award symbolizes the many facets of construction including dynamic design, quality craftsmanship, superior management and innovation,” said DCA Executive Vice President John J. McMahon, Jr. “We believe these awards provide a great opportunity to showcase contractors’ quality work to the construction industry and the general public.”
Congratulations to the North Star Team on this award-winning
project!
